Adderbury Cemetery

Posted 200 weeks ago (23/06) by Theresa Goss

It has come to the attention of Adderbury Parish Council that a letter is being circulated by a small group of residents calling themselves 'West Adderbury Residents Association' (WARA) claiming that there is inadequate provision for burials in Adderbury Cemetery.

This claim is completely without foundation. There are currently approximately 290 burial plots available. Therefore at the current rate of burials per year the cemetery has capacity for the next 50 years.

WARA has submitted a Freedom of Information request to the Parish Council for information on the cemetery, which is being collated by the Clerk and will be published in due course.

It is very disappointing that WARA has not waited before circulating their letter, which shows a complete lack of sensitivity to such a delicate subject and the Parish Council wishes to reassure the residents of Adderbury that there is plenty of space for burials.

Furthermore the Cemetery complies with all current statutory regulations.

There is no plan at all to include a pathway through the cemetery to the New Community facilities. This is not in either of the approved planning applications (18/00220/F or 19/02796/F).
