Remembrance Day Poppies

The Parish Council would like to thank Debby Dickinson for suggesting and organising the lovely display of poppies around the village.
Every Poppy is in memory of a soldier from this Parish named on the War Memorial (which is inside St Mary's Church) and each has some information about the named soldier.
Many of the names of these soldiers are those of families who still live in the village or local area.
There are over 60 of the poppies and they are spread all round the village.
The ones in the Adderbury Fields estate on Milton road commemorate men who were Adderbury Morris dancers, who signed up together to fight in World War 1.
The roads in that estate were named after these men, as that development was built around the 100th anniversary of WW1.
The 'Silent Soldier' figure on the Banbury Road also has some information. He was installed by the Parish Council to commemorate the 100 years centenary and he is positioned near the entrance to the Crescent as these 12 houses were specially built for soldiers returning from WW1.
The Parish Council hopes residents will find the installation interesting and thought provoking and share in our thanks to Debby for organising it all.
